Celebrate National 4-H Week by saying THANKS and showing 4-H pride!

It's time to kick off another great year
in Sevier County 4-H!

Some things you can do to celebrate:
-Take time to thank the people who help make your 4-H experience possible.
A popular thing to do is "Make and Take" where you make some cookies or a treat of some kind and deliver it to your club leader, people who sponsored your livestock project, a community sponsor, your favorite 4-H staff members (*wink, wink) - anyone who has helped you be a successful 4-Her!

-Show your 4-H pride.
On Wednesday, October 7th we want you to wear a 4-H shirt to school or work or wherever you are to show your 4-H pride.  Take a picture of you and your friends in your 4-H gear and tag us on Instagram using the hastags #sevier4hutah #utah4h #4h.  The picture with the most favorites will win a prize!

Sevier County 4-H and the Department of Workforce Services are committed to helping Sevier County high school students do well on the ACT.
Why is it important to do well on the ACT?  Colleges look at ACT scores to determine student eligibility.  Colleges may also award scholarships to those with high scores!
All 9-12 grade Sevier County high schools students are invited to participate in the upcoming ACT prep courses.
Our first course will be held October 7-9 (registration has closed for this course).  Future courses are scheduled for November and January so be on the lookout for dates and registration information!

Interested in the Teen Council? What you need to know...

When are the meetings?
First Thursday of every month

What are the meetings like?
Nicole Christensen, Teen Council President, leads our meetings. We have a monthly ice breaker, a "Prepare, Enrich, Inspire!" lesson on developing relationships of all kinds, calendaring, a fun activity and a snack!

Where and what time are the meetings?
We meet in the county building east end basement room at 8 PM and try to end before 9:30 PM.

Besides meetings, what do you do?
This year we are doing 3 service projects, 2 PEI grand events, and hosting 2 Jr. retreats for the Jr. Teens. We will also be participating in a Winter Retreat in January where teens get to go to Aspen Grove and cross country ski or snow shoe, we will have a southern region camp in March and a swing dance camp in February! We are also working on portfolios monthly that teens can use when applying for any scholarship. Teens are also hosting this years first Family Night Out on November 9.

Who can join?
Teen Council is open for all teens in the valley grades 9th—12th. Teens earn punches during the year by helping out and leading various activities to help pay for fun camps and retreats offered through the state and region.

Record Number of Sevier County Youth Registered to Attend Statewide Teen Leadership Training

This year we have 25 youth and 4 adult leaders going to Teen Leadership Training! (Thanks to the two moms who are helping us get so many to Logan! )

This is new record for Sevier County! This increase is a result of some very friendly and inviting teens and a generous scholarship from Rebecca offered for first time 4Hers! This year we will not only be learning leadership, making new friendships, dancing the night away, and having fun—we will be attending a USU football game! Woot—GO Aggies!
