Thanks for all you do!

Hey, you!
Yeah, YOU!
Thanks for all you do!

Dear Parents,

We at Sevier County 4-H want to thank you for your support of our Fab Friday activities, summer clubs, fair exhibits and...well, EVERYTHING!  We are doing our best to provide quality programming for your child and appreciate your willingness to keep coming back, time and time again!

This mini-newsletter is just to give you some info on things coming up in the next few months.  We hope it is useful as you plan out your busy lives.

We appreciate you and hope you will spread the word that 4-H is a GREAT place for youth to learn and grow in Sevier County.

Sincerely,
The Sevier County
4-H Staff

The #1 thing...

What’s the #1 thing that will keep your child from getting the most out of 4-H this year?

Sadly, it is something really simple…4-H Enrollment!

As a youth development organization we love to deliver quality programming to youth no matter who they are.  We do fun activities and complete really awesome projects.  We know that people want to know what they are getting into before they “join” which is why anyone is welcome at our Fab Friday events.

The benefits of enrolling are:
· Help us save on insurance costs; enrolled youth are covered all year, if not we have the option to pay a fee per participant/per event for accident insurance.  If something ever happened to your child at a 4-H event, you’d only be able to access this coverage if your youth was enrolled in the program.

· Youth must be enrolled if they want to participate in contests and clubs of any kind. This includes bringing your Fab Friday projects to the fair, showing horses/livestock, participating in the demo/talent contests, or being a 4-H club during the school year or summer.

Enroll your child today!  If you were enrolled last year, you’re already in our system and it takes a few simple clicks to update your info.  If you have questions, please call the office and we can walk you through the process.

Foods & Nutrition Skill Builder Club

Switching our focus from projects to SKILLS, a Foods & Nutrition Skill Builder Club will be starting at the end of February.  There will be a class for youth in grades 3-5 and one for youth in grades 6-8.  Classes will be held on alternating Fridays from 2-5 p.m. at the Extension office with schedule as follows:

Grades 3-5: February 28th, March  14th, March 28th, and April 11th
Grades 6-8: March 7th, March 21st, April 4th, and April 11th

It is preferred that youth will be able to attend all four sessions.  4-H enrollment will be required to participate (including a $5 fee).  Space is limited.  Cost will be $25 per youth to cover supplies and tools to continue practicing the skills learned in class.

Registration will open Tuesday, February 18th.  Click here to register today!!

Fab Friday is taking a break..

We have not scheduled Fab Friday classes in March and April this year.  As end of year school schedules get busier, so do our teen and adult volunteers and so do our kids!  Fab Friday will be back in October!  Thanks for your support!

County Contests coming up!

County Contests coming up in April, May & June!

County Contests are the “4-H way” of seeing what skills the youth have learned.  On April 11th, our Teen Council will hold a workshop to teach youth about giving Demonstrations, Favorite Food Contest, and Impromptu Speaking.

Wednesday, April 30th we’ll have our Favorite Foods contest and we’ll host a speaking contest in May and a talent contest in June (dates TBA).  All enrolled 4-Hers are encouraged to attend the training and sign up to be part of the contests.

If there any high school aged youth interested in forming a Horse or Livestock quiz bowl, please let Rebecca know and we'll put together a team for State Contests!

Summer programs are just around the corner!
