National Pi Day – How will you celebrate?
Did you hear? This Saturday, March 14th is National Pi Day, an annual celebration of the mathematical symbol for pi, which equals 3.14159…..(See how many total digits of pi have been calculated here).
This upcoming Saturday (3/14/15) is a very special National Pi Day because it will offer an extremely rare phenomenon. On 3/14/15 at 9:26 AM and PM with exactly 53 seconds, these 10 digits of pi will be represented: 3.141592653.
That’s pretty cool, and it definitely calls for celebration. Here are some ideas to celebrate this unique phenomenon:
Pie on Pi Day
What could be better than joining together with friends and family and eating pie on Pi Day? Apple pie, Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry-Rhubarb, maybe even Pizza Pie. Whatever kind of pie you choose, don’t forget to take a moment and talk about why the other pi deserves celebration. (Unsure what pi is all about? Learn more here)
