Outshoot the Sheriff a great success!

2nd Annual Outshoot the Sheriff
Sponsored by
Sevier County 4-H
Sevier County Sheriff's office

We had a total of 16 youth participate with the six Sheriff's Office department officers. They all enjoyed the shoot which consisted of a challenge tree where they recorded how many times they could hit a four inch target when given 10 shots; the “Golf Tee Challenge” where they had to shoot progressively smaller targets going from a tennis ball to a golf ball to a DumDum sucker and finally actually shoot the golf tee; and finally a station where they had to knock down plates like at a carnival.

Want more camps? More field trips? New kinds of clubs? Different service projects? Show us in a fast and fun video.

And guess what? There are prizes!

Official Rules
Please read all rules carefully before submitting an entry.
1. Eligibility
Participation is only open to Utah 4-H members (between the ages of 5-18) as of October 1, 2015. Entrants may be individuals or groups, but there is only one prize per winning entry. By entering and participating in the Contest, you agree to be bound by these Official Rules and represent that you satisfy all of the eligibility requirements of said rules.
2. Contest Deadline
All entries must be submitted by March 31, 2016. Note that all entries become the sole and exclusive property of the Sponsor.
3. How to Enter
Eligible participants will design and create a video (90 seconds max.) which describes the future of Utah 4-H. This video will be uploaded to YouTube (unlisted), and entrants must send the YouTube web address of that video to seviercounty4-H@usu.edu. The email will include the first and last names, ages, and county of all Entrants. The Sponsor is not responsible for late, illegible, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, misdirected, technically corrupted, or garbled entries.
4. Judging
A panel of judges will identify the top three submissions and move them into a final round, where the public will take two weeks to vote for the video(s) they like best. There will be first, second, and third prize winners by the end of the final round. In the case of a tie, the final winner will be determined by a drawing. By entering the contest, Entrants fully and unconditionally agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which will be final and binding in all matters related to the Contest.
5. Notification

The winner will also be required to provide a valid US mailing address to which the prize will be delivered. If the winner cannot be contacted, or if any prize is returned as un-deliverable, or in the event of noncompliance with these Official Rules, including eligibility, the prize will be forfeited and awarded to the next alternate winner previously drawn. Upon prize forfeiture, no compensation will be given to the first person selected.

Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the web site. Sponsor may prohibit an entrant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said Entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair playing practices (including the use of automated quick entry programs) or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other Entrants or Sponsor representatives.

LEGO Season Update

Over 200 teams across Utah have registered to compete in this season’s FIRST LEGO League. That includes 2 brave teams from Sevier County who will be competing in January 2016. One of those teams will be representing us this year!

To help support them, Sevier County 4-H will be hosting a tournament at the Fairgrounds on January 9, 2016. This cannot happen without amazing volunteers like YOU.

3 Reasons You Should Attend Leadermete

Something’s coming you won’t want to miss. It’s (drum roll please)… Leadermete!

What is Leadermete?
Leadermete is a 3-day educational 4-H conference for high school aged youth, adult leaders, and volunteers, though anyone is welcome to attend.

So, why should you attend?
3. It’s close to home!
This time, Leadermete will be held in Sevier County on April 7-9, 2016, which is kind of a big deal. Leadermete is usually held all across Utah, even last year took quite a drive to the Salt Lake area to participate, but this year, we are bringing Leadermete right to your doorstep.

That means you don’t have to travel hundreds of miles to participate. Leadermete is coming to you!
2. It’s tons of fun!
This 3-day extravaganza is packed with delicious food, prizes, and entertainment. That’s right, we feed you, we reward you, and we invite you to a party.

Last year, we had a fancy banquet while being entertained by a silly team of comedians. This year? Well, we’ll keep you guessing for a little longer, but you can check out last year’s entertainment at www.4-hleadermete.com
1. There’s something for everyone!
Leadermete is best known for the amazing variety of workshops offered. For teens, there is a complete track of activities, including a teens-only dance. For adults, the possibilities are endless.
In the past, classes offered have included container gardening, solar cooking, genealogy projects, hands-on electronics, sewing and no-sew crafts, yoga, herbal remedies, and much MUCH more! Check out the Leadermete Facebook page HERE for more examples from last year.

Want to know more about Leadermete?
We are currently searching for cool class opportunities for Leadermete. If you’d like to be updated on what’s coming next to Leadermete and on how you can register for the event, go to the website and sign up for our mailing list or like the Facebook page.
We look forward to seeing you at Leadermete!
